Welcome to your guide to successful beekeeping in 2019 and beyond!

"Truly a great introduction to beekeeping, the 101 class really made beekeeping feel approachable and not too intimidating for beginners. We are excited about the prospect of keeping bees!"  - Jeannie, former student

Beekeeping 101 provides an in-depth discussion of what you need to know to start you off on the path to success in beekeeping.  Recommended for anyone looking to start keeping bees in 2019 or any beekeeper looking for a refresher.  Topics covered include:

·        Honeybee biology

·        Equipment and gear needed to get started

·        Where to get bees and how to install them

·        How to feed your bees

·        What to look for when inspecting your hive

·        How to conduct a mite count and treatment options

o   All students will receive a take-home mite testing kit

·        Nuances of urban beekeeping, site selection, and jurisdictional requirements

·        And much more...

In addition to the classroom training, all students will receive a copy of the presentation and will be invited to a hands-on apiary visit to our hives to view a full inspection and mite count.  The apiary visit will be scheduled in the spring once the weather warms up (multiple dates will be available to best accommodate schedules).

Kids under 16 are free with an adult.

We are proud to partner once again with Plan Bee in Thornton, CO to provide all students attending the class with a discount on bees and beekeeping supplies.
